Today we want to let you all in on a little known Philly fitness secret: one of our new favorite fitness studios, BPM Fitness, offers a $10 live DJ (!!!) class the first Friday of every month. What better way to try out a new studio than with a discounted class and live music!?

BPM Fitness—recently named Philly’s “Best New Way to Work Up a Sweat” by Philly Current—opened in Fairmount this past November. When BPM opened, their class offerings were spin, TRX or a hybrid of 30 minutes of spin and 30 minutes of TRX. We love any class that combines cardio with strength training, so we jumped at the opportunity to give BPM a try last month for their spin/TRX hybrid First Friday class.
As the name suggests, BPM relies heavily on music to drive the pace of their classes. Between the live DJ and the energy of instructor and co-owner Shoshana Katz, the First Friday class was especially upbeat. They also had a second instructor—other co-owner Erin Moffitt—in the room for the TRX portion of the workout, which added to the personal attention they give to their clients. We LOVE when instructors come around and correct us on form. We’re trying to perfect it and avoid injuries, after all! No shame in being called out—we welcome it with open arms. Oh, and did we mention they had snacks from Pure Fare for everyone after class? This chocolate cashew milk and tahini cookie were to. die. for.

Starting on April 1, BPM Fitness is launching a rebrand of their class schedule, so options will no longer be limited to spin, TRX and the spin/TRX hybrid. We got a taste of the new class structure at City Fit Girls’ most recent free workout class last weekend, and let’s just say we already can’t wait to go back on April 7 for the next First Friday class. It was easily one of the most challenging yet fun workout classes we’ve taken. Trust us, you’ll want to check it out!
