Let’s Talk Kitchen Gadgets

Hello and happy Thursday! As two people who very much enjoy working in the kitchen, we thought it would be fun to share a few of our favorite “kitchen gadgets”. There are so many gadgets out there, but these are a few that we—dare we say it—can’t live without. Each of these gadgets has effectively amazed us with their capabilities, and has also helped us get more creative in the kitchen. Keeping things exciting in the kitchen, to us, means less time and money spent eating out or unnecessarily buying store-brought products we can make (better) at home. Aka, #winning. You already know the air fryer is about to get a shout-out…

Taylor’s picks

Paderno World Cuisine Spiralizer

“I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. Subbing traditional carbs with veggies is my all-time favorite thing to do in the kitchen. Zoodles (zucchini noodles), cauliflower rice, stuffed peppers, zucchini boats, and even cucumber noodles—the possibilities are endless and absolutely delicious every time. I’ve had this spiralizer for years now—since zoodles became ‘a thing’—and it has never let me down. It comes with three blades, so you can control the size and shape of your veggie noodles.”

The Pampered Chef Garlic Press

“This little garlic press is the best thing I never knew I needed. I’ve always preferred fresh garlic cloves over the pre-minced kind. No real reason—that’s just what I prefer. But I used to spend many precious meal prep minutes mincing garlic with my less-than-ideal knives, until I got this gadget for Christmas one year (thanks, mom!). It minces garlic better than I ever could by hand in about a second. Serious life saver!”

KitchenAid 7-Cup Food Processor

“Not going to lie, I was super intimidated by food processors for the longest time. I think I owned this food processor for at least six months before I even took it out of the box. Now, it’s one of my most prized possessions. Smooth, creamy hummus in a matter of minutes? Sure. Fresh basil or arugula pesto that tastes better than store-bought? No problem. Homemade green goddess dip or avocado ranch dressing? You get the idea. This thing can do anything—and fast.”

Hope’s picks

Cuisinart Electric Pressure Cooker

“My two top favorite kitchen gadgets are the Instant Pot and the Air Fryer…shocker, I know. I think you’d have success—and fall in love with—any brand, but I have linked the specific one I have. When I first got the pressure cooker, I was scared and confused, honestly, regarding the pressure release, etc. But, after a few uses, I was won over and feeling like a pro! Nothing beats the convenience of this device, as you don’t have to let it sit all day like a slow cooker—things are cooked to perfection in just minutes! Also, I really feel like even though the cooking time is so short, I’ve never had things cooked so perfectly, even in a slow cooker! Chicken thighs are deliciously browned on the outside and crumble between my fingertips when I go to shred them. Mmm.”

NuWave Brio Air Fryer (The one I got for my mom is also great and arguably easier to clean because the basket isn’t wire.)

“Where to even start with the Air Fryer… The Air Fryer is truly magical. I’ve made such a wide assortment of things (Brussels sprouts, meatballs, avocado fries, coconut shrimp, bagels, chicken wings, fried chicken, eggplant, sweet potatoes, etc.) and have been WOW’d by every. single. one. You really can’t beat the satisfaction of fried food WITHOUT oil! Talk about guilt-free. The short cook time makes for a happy consumer as well. My only piece of advice is do not overcrowd the basket. If you overlap things, they will not cook properly. This may be common sense to some, but I guess since I used to use a traditional fryer where I worked in college, I thought I could just throw everything in the basket the first time I took mine for a spin. Don’t do it.”

Grill Pan

“Again, I don’t think you can really go wrong with any brand of grill pan, this just happens to be the specific one my uncle got me for Christmas. TY, Unc. The grill pan is great, and has caused me to neglect the actual grill I thought I needed to purchase on Prime Day last summer. Especially in the winter, it is super convenient to just light the stove, heat the grill pan, and see those beautiful grill lines appear. Whether you’re grilling up burgers, chicken, veggies, fruit, etc.—you need one of these!”
